2016 World Habitat Awards Housing

Submissions are welcome for the 2016/2017 World Habitat Awards competition, for practical and innovative solutions to housing needs and problems.

The World Habitat Awards recognize solutions to current housing issues faced by countries all around the world. Projects which view the term habitat from a broad perspective and bring other benefits as well, such as energy or water saving, income generation, social inclusion, community and individual empowerment, health benefits, capacity building or education, are especially interesting.
For the 2016/2017 cycle, two (2) winning projects will be awarded with £10,000 each, as well as international recognition. Trophies will also be presented and one representative of each winning project will be invited to attend the awards ceremony.

The World Habitat Awards were established in 1985 by the Building and Social Housing Foundation as part of its contribution to the United Nations International Year of Shelter for the Homeless.
As of 2014, the Awards are presented each year at a major UN-Habitat event, providing opportunities for international exposure, networking and dissemination of the award winning approaches.
